More Than Just a Gymnastics Club

North East London Gymnastics Club has been at the heart of the local community since 2009, providing children and families across Hackney and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to enjoy gymnastics in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

As a registered charity, we're passionate about making gymnastics accessible to everyone. Every child deserves the chance to be active, build confidence, make friends and discover what they're capable of—regardless of their background or ability.

We're not a commercial club—we're a community club. Our volunteer trustees, coaches, parents and members work together to create a place where children can thrive, friendships are built, and everyone feels welcome.

Our Story

In 2010, we found our forever home in a disused building that had originally been built as a laundry. It wasn't a gymnastics club—but we could see its potential.

With local builders carrying out the structural work, our coaches, parents and volunteers rolled up their sleeves and transformed the building into the dedicated gymnastics facility we proudly call home today. Together they painted, cleaned, built, carried and created a space where thousands of children have since discovered a love of gymnastics.

That same community spirit continues to define who we are today.

Our Mission

Our aim is to make gymnastics accessible to everyone while promoting the lifelong benefits of being active.

We strive to:

• Inspire children to enjoy sport for life.

• Build confidence, resilience and self-belief.

• Provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for every gymnast.

• Keep gymnastics affordable for local families.

• Develop young leaders by supporting gymnasts to become qualified coaches within our club.

 

Every penny we receive is reinvested back into the club, helping us improve our facilities, invest in equipment, train coaches and provide opportunities for children and young people across our community.

Working Together for a Stronger Hackney

As part of the Hackney Voluntary and Community Sector, we align our work with the council's strategic long-term partnership goals. We work alongside Hackney Council and community organisations to improve health, wellbeing and opportunities for local residents. By supporting these shared goals, we help create a healthier, more active and inclusive community for children, young people and families.

Safe, Qualified Coaching

We are affiliated with the Independent Gymnastics Association (IGA), and all of our coaches are qualified through either British Gymnastics or IGA.

Every coach holds an enhanced DBS certificate, safeguarding training and is committed to providing high-quality coaching in a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment.​
