CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARTICIPANTS

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all our members. We believe it is important that gymnasts, coaches, volunteers, administrators, and parents always show respect, consideration, and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.

We encourage all members and parents to speak openly with the Club Welfare Officer if they have any concerns or complaints about any aspect of the club.

These guidelines are in place to help keep everyone safe and ensure that all participants enjoy a positive gymnastics experience. Parents and guardians are asked to read these guidelines with their child and support them in following them.

👥 Participants should:

  • Be friendly and welcoming, especially to new members

  • Help keep themselves and others safe in the gym at all times

  • Always train with a positive attitude

  • Listen carefully to and follow all instructions given by their coach

  • Respect fellow gymnasts and encourage others to do their best

  • Inform their coach of any injury or illness before entering the gym

  • Speak to their coach if they feel upset, worried, or uncomfortable during a session

  • Treat all gymnastics equipment with care and only use it when instructed by a coach

  • Ensure long hair is tied back securely and kept away from the face

  • Remove all jewellery before entering the building, including newly pierced ears

  • Respect the rights, dignity, and individuality of everyone at the club

  • Remain with their coach at the end of the session until collected by a parent or guardian

  • Bring only the items necessary for the session:

    • Official NELGC club clothing 

    • Appropriate footwear

    • A non-drip sports-style water bottle

    • Chalk (where required)

    • Any essential medication

Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in suspension or termination of club membership where appropriate.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all our members. Parents and guardians play a vital role in supporting a positive, safe, and enjoyable environment for all gymnasts.

We ask that all parents and guardians read and follow the guidelines below to help us maintain high standards of safety, respect, and communication across the club.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents / Guardians should:

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and participate within them

  • Ensure your child arrives in plenty of time for their session and notify the club if they are ill or unable to attend

  • Ensure your child is dressed appropriately in official club-approved clothing only and has adequate hydration

  • Ensure all jewellery is removed before training, including earrings, newly pierced ears, and hair beads, and that long hair is tied back securely

  • Bring your child to and collect them from the front door of the building

  • Ensure children remain with coaches and do not leave the gym until collected by a parent or authorised adult

  • Inform the club at the start of the session if someone other than the usual parent/guardian will be collecting your child

  • Collect your child promptly at the end of their session

  • Maintain clear and positive communication with coaches, staff, and officials for the benefit of all

  • Raise any concerns or complaints through the appropriate club communication channels

  • Use respectful and appropriate language at all times

  • Keep all contact and medical information for your child accurate and up to date

  • Help your child recognise and value good performance, not just results

  • Lead by example by demonstrating good sportsmanship and respecting the performances of all gymnasts

  • Support your child’s participation and enjoyment in the sport, encouraging them without pressure

  • Respect and accept officials’ decisions at all times

  • Understand that gymnasts may be filmed or photographed for coaching or publicity purposes; inform the club in advance if you do not consent
