It does get busy during the class change overs I would recommend arriving in your kit. If you do need to get changed at the club we have a small male and female changing area to the left of the main Foyer we do not have any shower facilities.

Can I watch my child?

Yes we have a viewing gallery where you can watch to see how your child is progressing.  Due to the limitations of the building and to allow your child to work independently we have specific watching weeks for each class.  Please check the events diary to see the watching weeks for each class. Existing members have priority and will complete their bookings before new members are allocated places

How do I register?

Please first book a trial via the home page

When can my child start gymnastics?

Boys and Girls can start gymnastics from walking usually about 12 months old in the pre school with parent class.  Children move to an independent class when they are 3 - 4 years old and the coach will tell you when they think your child is ready to progress to this class.  After school and weekend classes are available for children who are in reception class at school or older.  Please look at the joining page to find out abut how to start.

Am I too old ?

With gymnasts especially its good to start as early as possible however its never too late to start.  Whatever age you are you can benefit from gymnastics training the sooner you start the easier but you can start as an adult.  If you already have a level of fitness from another sport you will find you will progress faster however if you have the drive and determination to practice you can achieve lots of new skills at any age.

Do you cater for children with disabilities?

Yes.  If your child needs 1:1 support or you would like to discuss your child’s disability before signing up please email members@nelgc.org.

Can I come and have a look at a class before booking a course?

No we do not allow non members access to the viewing gallery, viewing is only available to members families on watching weeks and events.

Can I come and try out before booking a course?

Yes you can book a trial,  taster class or introductory course from the home page on the website.

What if the group is the wrong standard for my child.

If we identify that your child already has a lot of skills or shows potential to train at a higher level we will move them to an alternative class.  If your child shows a lot of potential for the sport we may invite them to try out for a different group.

What to wear

I'm going to a class with parents. What should me / my child wear?

Your child will need a set of clean clothes to change into to work in the gym: shorts that do not have buttons, pockets or zips on them so they do not get caught up on the equipment and bare feet, they will be provided with a club  T-shirt when they join. You will need to wear loose, comfortable clothing and bare feet as you will be joining in with your child.  Mobile phones may not be used in the gym. No food or drink in the gym. All bags are to be placed in the viewing gallery during the class – the door to the reception area is locked so that the safety of participants and valuables is maintained.  Parents need to wear suitable loose clothing to participate, a tracksuit is ideal.

My child has just joined. How do I get Club Kit?

Please order this through your paysubsonline account.  Please write your child’s name on the label when you are given the new leotard.

My child is going to a competition. What do they need to wear?

You should be provided with a kit list by your coach at the begining of the year if you have not been given this please ask them before you enter the competition as there will be some requirements.

We've lost the Club Kit. Where do we get a new one?

As the club kit is especially made they have to be ordered through the club and if we do not have the item in stock they can take up to 8 weeks to arrive.

How do I wash Club Kit?

When Cleaning Gymnastic Leotards DO NOT:

  • Do NOT tumble dry or iron - High heat sources may damage the fabric.

  • Do NOT rub or scrub foil print or metallic garments - Use a light cloth to remove any excess soilage gently.

  • Do NOT hang over radiators - Use a clothes hangar, clothes horse or washing line to allow natural drying without any artifical heat source which may affect the weave of the fabric.

Foil print and metallic garments may fade or dull with wear and repeated washing. Areas that incur friction or abrasion may show some loss of foil.  This does not constitute a fault but is more due to wear and tear on the garment.

Fees and payments

How much does it cost to come to classes at NELGC?

How do I pay for gymnastics classes?

Pay Subs Online is the system used for all bookings, membership fees, kit purchases and event entries.

RE ENROLMENT....how do I re enrol my child and what are the term dates?

If you Pre Authorise your payments you will be automatically re enrolled in the next course if not you will need to log in to your account and complete the payment for the booking

I've booked the wrong class and need to cancel

DUE TO THE SMALL NUMBER OF CHILDREN ALLOCATED TO EACH GROUP WE WILL NOT BE  ABLE TO OFFER A REFUND, ALTERNATIVE CLASS OR CREDIT IF YOU CHOOSE TO CANCEL THE CLASSES ONCE PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BOOK A CLASS TIME THAT YOUR CHILD CAN ATTEND.  IF YOU DO NEED TO CANCEL PLEASE CHECK THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CANCELLATION PROCEDURES.

Moving between classes

The time we're given no longer suits me. How do I change classes?

If you are unable to make your existing class and need to change class please email your coach or speak to them at the door and they will let you know if we have suitable alternative classes available.  If we do not have a suitable alternative class we can place you on a waiting list.

How can my child join a squad?

Any child can book a Squad Trial to see if they are suitable to join one of the squad groups

When is my child ready to move up a class?

All children have progress charts and will be moved up when they have achieved all the skills required for their current level class. Please check the class information to find out what your child can practice at home to assist with their progress.

Where do I get information on my child's progress?

Please ask your coach at the end of the class and they will be able to let you know how they are progressing.

Illness and attendance

Should my child come even if they are not very well?

If your child is ill they shouldn't attend the sessions.  If your child has an injury please email and let us know as much detail as possible and we will let you  know whether to bring your child to the session.

Can my child attend just part of a lesson this week?

No they must attend the full training session

What happens if we're running late?

The learning starts at the beginning of the session and the warm up includes preparatory skills for the elements that will be taught during the class. It is essential that all children arrive intime for the start of the class and complete the preparatory skills taught at the start of the class.  We do understand that sometimes traffic can be bad and you just can't get to the class in time however we are not able to allow children to join in after the register has been taken at the start of the class.

I come to a parent/child class. Can siblings and friends come along?

These classes are just for the particpant and the adult who is helping them. You can bring your baby with you if they are not yet walking.  Once they are walking they need to register for the session.  I'm sorry but older siblings cannot attnd the session or be left unsupervised anywhere in the building.

What happens if my child can't attend several sessions?

If you are unable to attend a session please email the club to let us know your coach and let them know.

If your child can't attend for several weeks they may fall behind and be unable to catch up with the skills,  if this is the case the coach will recommend and alternative session which is suitable
